Bernhard Langer reflects on his "dream" career as his 50-year association with the DP World Tour concludes at the BMW International Open. The 66-year-old golfer shot a one-over 73 in the second round in Munich, missing the cut in his final European Tour appearance.
Langer made his debut in 1974 and amassed 42 Tour victories, winning the Order of Merit twice. His illustrious career includes two Masters titles, a tenure as the world number one, and Ryder Cup victories both as a player and captain.
"I was able to live that dream for 50 years," Langer remarked. "I have wonderful memories from all over the world, not just in Europe but Asia, Australia, Japan, America, South Africa. I traveled the world and met with kings and queens. I played golf with all sorts of people, whether they were successful businessmen or just the average butcher or bricklayer. It was fun, it was great."
Langer isn't retiring completely from golf. He remains active on the PGA Champions Tour and aims to make his final Masters appearance next year. An Achilles injury in February prevented him from playing at Augusta this year, marking only his second absence since 1983.
